Scottish Rugby has entered into a ground-breaking partnership with some of Edinburgh’s top hotels for next year’s RBS 6 Nations Championship matches at Murrayfield, ensuring additional revenues from corporate hospitality can be re-invested to benefit the entire game in Scotland. Scottish Rugby’s hospitality providers, Murrayfield Experience, have announced details of match hospitality packages for the 2010 RBS 6 Nations Championship visits of France and England to Murrayfield.
Scotland play France on Sunday 7 February (kick-off 3pm) and England on Saturday 13 March (kick-off 5pm). Scottish Rugby already provides extensive corporate hospitality at Murrayfield stadium. But in a move designed to boost the revenues which are reinvested in the development of rugby in Scotland – and discourage uptake from unofficial hospitality providers, who do not give anything back to the game – there will also be official Scottish Rugby hospitality at six hotels around the city. The VIP packages, whether at Murrayfield or at the participating Edinburgh hotels – The Balmoral, Hilton Caledonian, The George, Dalmahoy Marriott, Roxburghe and Edinburgh Marriott – will include pre and post-match dining, guest speakers, top price category 1 match tickets, transport to Murrayfield and fast-track stadium entry. Some of the packages will also feature international player appearances. Gordon McKie, Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive, said: “This is the first time we have entered into such exciting partnerships with these quality hotels in Edinburgh. Six Nations Championship matches at Murrayfield are worth millions of pounds to the local economy and if, as a sport, we are able to look at innovative ways where we can increase our revenues from these games, then that has to be good news for the sport as a whole.” The packages for the England game start at £475 plus VAT at Murrayfield and £425 plus VAT at an Edinburgh hotel; for the French game Murrayfield hospitality prices start at £350 plus VAT.
