Scotland lock Nathan Hines has been named in the British and Irish Lions team to face Western Province in Cape Town tomorrow (Saturday 13 June, kick-off 2pm BST). Hines, who was introduced as a back-row replacement in the win against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last weekend is partnered by Ireland’s Donncha O’Callaghan in the second-row.
The three other Scots in the party are all listed for bench duty – front-row forwards Euan Murray and Ross Ford and scrum-half Mike Blair. Lions head coach Ian McGeechan hinted that that trio, fitness permitting, are likely to start in the last match before next weekend’s First Test, the contest against the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday (16 June, kick-off 2pm BST). McGeechan said today: "No starting players are backing up from the Sharks match as we continue our desire to see all players involved in at least two full matches prior to Test selection.” British & Irish Lions versus Western Province at Newlands tomorrow (Saturday 13 June) 15.
