Bruce McNeil made his Scotland A debut as a replacement during the match against the Irish at the RDS, Dublin, in February 2009. He joined Hawick in summer 2006 and at the same time gained an apprentice contract with Border Reivers. He moved to Heriot’s for season 2007-2008, and a full-time contract with Edinburgh followed in summer 2008.

The Stranraer Academy former pupil previously played for his home-town club, Wigtownshire, as well as working his way up through Glasgow’s district age-grade ranks at five yearly levels from under-16. He was in the Glasgow squad who won the district under-20 championship in 2003. Bruce is a member of Scottish Rugby’s National Senior Academy.
