Susie Brown

Susannah Clare Brown has made 50 appearances for Scotland, playing in all five matches in both the 2006 and 2010 Rugby World Cups. She has also played for Scottish Students and Scotland under-23, and she was in the Rugby Ecosse teams who won the 2005 Dubai sevens tournament and were runners-up the following year. She has also represented Wooden Spoon 7s, winning the Middlesex 7s at Twickenham.

A break from international rugby in the 2007/8 season saw Susie returning to university to complete her MSc in Human Nutrition with Specialisation in Public Health Nutrition after which she returned to the squad for the 2008 Autumn Test victory against Sweden.

Susie led her country for the first time, on the occasion of her 45th cap, against Spain in the Madrid friendly in January 2011 and gained her 50th cap against Italy in the final match of the 2011 RBS 6 Nations championship. Injury prevented her from playing in the November 2011 victory over the Netherlands in Amsterdam but she travelled with the team to share captaincy duties with Tracy Balmer.

She played for Boroughmuir High School, Glasgow University and Hillhead / Jordanhill before joining Richmond. Now a deputy project manager in the Diabetes Trials Unit at the University of Oxford, she enjoys 10k runs on behalf of her favourite charity, the Parkinson’s Disease Society.
