JAMES JOHNSTONE
James McCrone Johnstone has played for Scotland under-17 and under-19. His debut at the older level was marked with a try in the 55-13 win against Scotland’s Italian contemporaries at Lasswade, Edinburgh, in March 2009, and he played also against the French a month later at Dourdan. He has also played for Edinburgh under-16 and under-17. Having played both Scotland under-17 and 19 James was called up to the under-20 team for the 2010 6 Nations and IRB JWC in Argentina, earning seven caps, before being selected for the 2010 HSBC Sevens World Series tournaments in Dubai and George (where Scotland won the Emirates Airline South Africa 7s bowl).
The Merchiston Castle School former pupil is a member of Scottish Rugby’s National Academy with support from the East of Scotland Institute of Sport. He is studying management and marketing at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
