Jon Welsh
Scotland Squad - Forwards

Jon Welsh won his first cap for Scotland after Allan Jacobsen was injured in the final minutes of the warm-up for the RBS 6 Nations Championship match against Italy in Rome in March 2012.  He was signed by Glasgow Warriors after successful appearances for Scotland in the club international against Wales and Ireland in February 2008. His Scotland A debut followed in the 38-7 win against Tonga at Netherdale, Galashiels, in November 2009. Since his debut he has played a key role in five more Scotland A games against Ireland Wolfhounds (twice), Italy A, USA Eagles and this season's crushing victory over England Saxons.

Glasgow born Jon was educated at Eastwood High School in Newton Mearns. Before signing a professional contract he had had three seasons with Glasgow Hutchesons’ Aloysians, and before that he was with Whitecraigs. Throughout his GHA career he was a key figure for his all-round performances not just in his basic role at loose head, though it was on the other side of the front row that he played his two club internationals.

Before joining in the professional rugby ranks he was an electrician.
