Lee Jones made his Scotland debut against England in the opening match of the 2012 RBS 6 Nations Championship and scored his first try for Scotland against France three weeks later.

Prior to selection for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, Lee made his debut in international sevens when Scotland opened their 2009-2010 IRB World Series campaign in Dubai in December. He went on to play in the George (South Africa) tournament a week later. That November, he started for Scotland A against USA Eagles at Netherdale and contributed a brace of tries. He was back on the wing for the wins over Ireland Wolfhounds and Italy A in early 2011.

Previously, he had played for Scotland in three age groups. While a pupil at Selkirk High School, he played for Scotland’s under-18 A team in the age group’s 2006 FIRA/AER European championship in Italy, and the following year he was on the right wing in all of Scotland’s five matches in the IRB’s under-19 world championship, scoring a try in each of the two matches against Fiji.

He followed up with his under-20 international debut as a replacement wing against France at Falkirk in Scotland’s opening match in the age group’s 2008 six nations championship: a week later he played the same role against Wales under-20 at Rodney Parade, Newport, and he started on the left wing in the March games against England (at Falkirk) and Italy (at Mogliano). In June that year he started on the right wing in four of Scotland’s five matches in the IRB’s under-20 world championship in Wales, scoring a try against Samoa.

Lee has also played for Borders’ under-16 and under-18 teams. The Selkirk High School former pupil is a graduate in mechanical engineering from Heriot-Watt University
