SCOTLAND 7s SQUAD

The Scotland 7
James Fleming
Scotland 7 Squad - Scotland 7s

James Fleming joined Edinburgh Rugby from Glasgow Warriors in the summer of 2011 after he was awarded a central Scotland 7s contract. James’ priorities therefore lie in the abbreviated game, however he will be available for selection for Edinburgh Rugby outwith the World Sevens Series playing windows.

He started the 2011/12 HSBC Sevens World Series with style, scoring 20 tries in the first five tournaments, he was also the first to get on the score sheet for Scotland at the inaugural Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s with two tries against Wales.

Educated at Perth High School, before studying towards a degree in Sports Studies at Stirling University, James began his rugby career aged six at Perthshire rugby club where he remained until he was 21 when his performances for the club earned him the Premier 3 player of the season and the attention of Premier 1 side, Dundee, where he was signed in time for the following season (2009/10).

Try-scoring performances in the top domestic division earned James a cap in the Scotland Club International side against Ireland before he was selected (and starred) in the Scotland 7s team for the 2010/11 HSBC Sevens World Series events in Dubai and George, South Africa – scoring six tries in his first world sevens series event and another two in his second (George), during which Scotland lifted the South Africa 7s Bowl.

Fleming was selected for the third and fourth legs in Wellington and Las Vegas and was part of the squad that lifted the Bowl in Las Vegas in the fourth.
