Philiphaugh hosts Scotland's under-17 side this Sunday (1 May) as they take on France under-17 in their final fixture of the season (kick-off 2pm, Selkirk RFC). The side will be looking to continue their unbeaten run, following a win over England under-17 (30-10) in Leeds, and Wellington Festival victories over France A (32-10), England Blues (38-10) and England Reds (35-0) this month. Head coach Davey Wilson said: "This will be the biggest game that our players have ever experienced so it's fitting that their last outing is reserved for playing the toughest game."
Commenting on his team choice Wilson added: "The guys we've included in the selection against France give us flexibility, as certain players can cover other positions and these are the guys who have performed at the top of their game." Wilson is delighted with the form shown by the squad in this, his first season as under-17 coach. He said: "To begin with they were an unknown quantity and I wasn't sure what to expect. Skill-wise I've been very impressed and the players have taken on board the coaching and management experience. "We started off with a training game against an Edinburgh select side, then came the victory over England and we've grown in confidence since then. But now we're playing the French under-17 players that beat England under-17 and they're a big, physical side. "This will be the biggest game that our players have ever experienced so it's fitting that their last outing is reserved for playing the toughest game."
