Andrew David Easson made his first appearance for Edinburgh in the Magners League match against Leinster at Donnybrook in November 2006. His European debut followed a month later in the Heineken Cup match against Gloucester at Murrayfield. Previously, he played in Scotland’s under-19 internationals against Italy and France in season 2005-2006 before going on to the IRB Under 19 World Championships in Dubai in April. His international honours soon continued in May and June when he was in the Scotland squad for the IRB sevens tournaments in Paris and London, and later in June he returned to France to replace the injured Garry Law in the Scotland squad after the pool stage of the under-21 world championship, though he was not called on to play in that tournament. He added to his international experience by playing at centre for Scotland in the under-20 match against England at Bath in February 2007. As an apprentice, he was a regular in Edinburgh’s team in the latter half of the 2006-2007, and he was awarded a senior contract for the following season. Andrew returned to the national sevens squad for the IRB’s Dubai and George (South Africa) tournaments in November-December 2008 and continued in the Wellington (New Zealand), San Diego (USA), Hong Kong and Adelaide (Australia) events as well as the RWC Sevens in Dubai, where Scotland won the Plate competition. He has played also for Scotland under-18, and he was in the Scotland sevens squad at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo, Australia, in late 2004. He has also played for Caledonia at under-16 and under-18 levels, and he is now a member of Scottish Rugby’s National Academy. The Balwearie High School former pupil is a son of Bob Easson, high performance rugby coach at the Scottish Institute of Sport. |
