DAVID McCALL
In 2004/2005, while at Stewart’s Melville College, Dave played in three under-19 internationals, and three more appearances followed in the IRB Under 19 World Championship in Durban, South Africa. He added to his international honours with his under-20 debut for Scotland on the right wing against England at Bath in February 2007, and he continued in that role for the Falkirk match against Wales a week later. He signed an apprentice contract for Edinburgh later in the year.
David had previously played for Edinburgh under-18 and Scotland under-18A and was in the Scotland sevens squad in the 2004 Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. He played club rugby for Stewart’s Melville and Heriot’s. Outwith rugby, Dave was twice a gold medallist in the Scottish Schools’ under-17 4 x 100m relay.
His Scotland sevens debut followed in Dubai, the opening tournament of the IRB’s 2006/07 world series. He was also in the squad for the subsequent tournament in George, South Africa.
David William McCall joined Glasgow Warriors in summer 2009, and playing at outside-centre, he marked his debut for the club with a try in the Magners League match against Ospreys at Firhill in late September that year (it was not his first appearance in that competition: nearly three years earlier he made his Magners debut for Edinburgh on the right wing against Cardiff Blues at Murrayfield).
In January 2011 Dave was then handed a return to the abbreviated game when he was selected for the Wellington and Las Vegas legs of the HSBC sevens World Series. |
