Scottish Rugby Hall of Fame

SCOTTISH RUGBY HALL OF FAME

-------

Scottish Rugby is to set-up its first official Hall of Fame to celebrate the glittering contribution made by Scots to the oval ball game over the years.

Aitken & DeansThe Hall of Fame panel (which includes five times British and Irish Lions coach, Sir Ian McGeechan, fellow British Lions and Scotland internationalists John Beattie, John Jeffrey and Chris Rea, and the doyen of Scottish rugby writers, Norman Mair) have drawn up a shortlist of Scots who have made an outstanding contribution to the oval ball game during the 90s.

The introduction of the official roster of recognition instantly sparked debate in clubhouses across the country, with supporters of all ages debating their favourite Scots, plucked from over 130 years of international honours.

Panel member John Jeffrey is delighted to offer supporters the chance to have their say.

Ian McLauchlanHe said: "Scotland supporters the world over will have their own favourites and we are keen for them to have the opportunity to put forward an iconic figure for the Hall of Fame.

"It's already generated a lot of interest and is a fantastic way of recognising the outstanding contribution made by an individual, not necessarily a player, to Scottish rugby."

The successful candidate will then join the inductees selected by the panel to be announced and inducted at the inaugural gala dinner at Murrayfield on Thursday 4 November, to which two lucky voters will be invited to attend as special guests.
