HOGG REFLECTS ON NAMIBIA RESULT
Wednesday, 16 June 2010

Scotland ‘A’ team captain, Ally Hogg, today reflected on yesterday’s 20-23 loss to Namibia at the IRB Nations Cup as he took part in a tag rugby session at St Nicholas School in Bucharest with the captains of all five visiting countries (the others being Argentina, Georgia, Italy and Namibia).Image

Hogg, who refereed the session as he nursed the bumps and bruises of yesterdays match, described his disappointment in the result, but also expressed his desire to help rectify the mistakes made during Scotland’s first two games.

He said: “Yes we were very disappointed. I think again we played enough rugby to win the game but sadly it was the same story we had against Georgia, we made far too many mistakes.

“I think we turned the ball over about ten times in their 22 when we had try-scoring opportunities.

“That’s the frustrating thing is we’re creating opportunities but just not putting them away.”

Looking ahead to the final match of the tournament, against Argentina Jaguars on Sunday, Hogg continued: “We’ve got one more game against Argentina on Sunday to rectify that (the mistakes).

“I think it’s about putting a performance in and getting a win first and foremost.

“There are a lot of young guys here who will have learned from this experience. The best way of learning is through winning and hopefully we can do that on Sunday.”
