Andrew James Kelly, who signed with Edinburgh Rugby at the start of season 2003-2004, has played 11 games for Scotland A, beginning with all three games in the Barclays Churchill Cup in Canada in June 2006. He started as hooker in the win against Canada and replacement in the two others, and he also had the bench role in 2006-2007 for the Perth matches against Australia and Italy, playing for the last quarter in the victory in the latter game.
Three further replacement appearances for the A team followed in the 2008 Churchill Cup competition in North America, and later that year he was also a replacement in the win against Georgia at Firhill, Glasgow. He had four more Scotland A matches in 2009 – all three games (a start in the win against Uruguay) in the IRB Nations Cup success in Bucharest in June, and a replacement appearance against Tonga five months later at Netherdale, Galashiels. Andrew has recently earned two more caps for Scotland A against Ireland A and Italy A.
Andrew has represented Scotland also under-18, under-19, and under-21 and Edinburgh district at under-16, under-18, and under-19. His international under-19 games included starting in all four in the 2001 FIRA World Junior Championship in Santiago, Chile, and scoring a try against Japan in the final match there. The Stewart’s Melville College former pupil has studied marketing and tourism at Napier University in Edinburgh.
