The Scotland 7s team continued their intensive preparations ahead of the IRB Sevens World Series with a training camp in France which incorporated a two-day tournament against top class opposition and emerging nations.
Scotland joined two other IRB sides - France and World Cup champions Wales – along with Morocco and an Argentine XV.
The Scots registered wins over Morocco (41-0), France (19-12) and Argentina (63-0) before two matches against the World champions.
The first game of the double-header saw Scotland run in 19-5 victors. In what was billed as the final of the competition, Wales won 17-5. |

Scotland 7s coach Stephen Gemmell speaks exclusively to scotlandrugbyteam.org |
Commenting on the squad’s return home, Scotland 7s coach Stephen Gemmell told scotlandrugbyteam.org: “We were using the tournament in France as our final preparation before Dubai and George
“Obviously November is a busy period for all the players involved in Scottish rugby with full internationals, Scotland A team and the British & Irish Cup with Gael Force, Ayr and Heriot’s all playing.
“We got the chance to train and play in a five team tournament over two days which gives us invaluable preparation.
“The important thing for us was to build on the work we’d done in Delhi. That’s us now had 20 players who’ve had experience of high level sevens which is a big step forward from where we’ve been in the past.”
Scotland 7s enter IRB Sevens World Series competition in Dubai on 4 & 5 December and George (South Africa) on 11 & 12 December.
The squad for both tournaments will be announced soon. |
