CUSITER READY TO LEAD SCOTLAND
Wednesday, 11 November 2009

Scotland captain Chris Cusiter has enjoyed and endured the “rollercoaster” highs and lows of professional rugby in the last few years.

But this weekend, when the Glasgow Warriors scrum-half wins his 45th cap, will be a high of Ben Nevis proportions – the first time he has led his country in a Test match.

Cusiter spoke at a news conference at Murrayfield today of his immense pride and how Saturday’s Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Test against Fiji (kick-off 2.30pm) would be a special day for his friends and family.

Captaincy aside, Cusiter is also looking forward to starting his first international for Scotland since the 2007 Rugby World Cup against a team who he declares is spiced with players who are among the world's best at beating an opponent, one-on-one.

“Being a professional rugby player can be a rollercoaster experience.  It’s true that I have had injuries and there have been other occasions when I have been on the bench but, like any player when you’re given a chance, you have to take it and that will be my focus on Saturday,” he said.
